Diemer is the nurse manager on 3 East.
The award is in honor of Sister Margaret Vincent Blandford, who was a member of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. She first came to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in 1954 as Director of Nursing. An excellent nurse, she was also recognized early on for her outstanding leadership qualities. She served as President and Chief Executive of CHI St. Vincent Infirmary on two occasions.
The Blandford Award is presented to a member of Leadership Forum who effectively manages our Legacy of Care, Relationships, Results and the Common Good. This person makes meaningful contributions to accomplishing the strategic agenda and finds ways to accomplish what needs to be done.
An excerpt from her nomination letter:
“Joyce makes me feel like part of her family. She truly cares about her nurses and when we have a problem she takes it seriously and resolves it any day, at any time. I remember one time in the last year that we were already short-staffed and the staffing office called to pull one of our nurses. This would have left us in a major bind, so Joyce went and worked on that unit herself until they could find a replacement to come in. She lives and dies by the policies and carries out our mission every day.â€
