Please join me in celebrating CHI’s 20th Anniversary. We plan to have opportunities for all of us to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we’re going in the future over the next few months.

The Sisters who founded our organization knew the importance of our mission, which has remained a vital piece of who we are over the past two decades. Remarkably, our mission…to nurture the healing ministry of the Church, supported by education and research. Fidelity to the Gospel urges us to emphasize human dignity and social justice as we create healthier communities …is just as relevant today as it was when we were founded in 1996. And that is thanks to you. Whether you’re working in a hospital, or in a clinic, or even in a support setting – you bring our mission to life every day in the important work that you do to sustain our ministry.

While our work hasn’t been without struggle and adversity, it’s incredible to think about all of the successes we have enjoyed by overcoming obstacles and working together. In my 18 years here, a few of our many achievements come to mind:

  • Supported you, our most valued resource, with your personal health and wellness through the Healthy Spirit Program
  • Provided more than $63 million in grants that have had a direct impact on our communities with programs that range from immunization access, dental care for school children and behavioral health assistance to end-of-life care and disaster relief
  • Grown our regional presence and Clinically Integrated Networks to focus on coordinated, high-quality care
  • Funded our violence prevention program with $15 million to create programs, policies and actions in our communities that address violence before it happens

At the same time, we provide care and services to millions of people each year, and have grown more than anyone thought possible. We continue to Imagine Better Health© now and into the future with our diverse set of hospitals, critical care centers, home health network, clinical and research organizations, insurance business, and so much more.

During our anniversary celebration, we will be sharing a series of short videos featuring colleagues from across CHI. Watch for them in our internal communications and social media.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions, hard work, tenacity, innovation and spirit. It is my privilege to lead this organization, and I look forward to seeing all that we will achieve in the months, years and decades to come.

Sincerely,
