Our Hot Springs campus hosted the MASH (Medical Applications in Science for Health) program June 12 – 16. They had 12 students from area high schools participate in the five-day training program. Students were from Fountain Lake, Lakeside, Lake Hamilton, Bismarck, Cutter Morning Star and Caddo Hills High Schools.
The MASH program is offered to high school students who are interested in going into the medical profession. Hot Springs planned many hands-on experiences for the students including suturing, a demonstration on casting, a mock trauma event and watching a heart dissection. The students also toured the LifeNet Ambulance and Helicopter and sat through a discussion on Ethics in Healthcare.
A huge thanks to Dr. Igor DeCastro, Neurosurgeon; Dr. Doug Ross, VP of Medical Affairs; Dr. Tomas Hollis Jr., Clinical Informatics and Patrick McCruden, Market VP of Administration, for ensuring the students had a great educational experience!
