Hot Springs Hosts Mental Health First Aid Training for Local Court Officials

Violence Prevention Specialist, Susie Reece, hosted a Mental Health First Aid training at our Hot Springs campus with local court officials.

Judge Meredith Switzer Rebsamen, Court Coordinator Capt. Mark Allen, and other court staff along with Shalom Recovery Centers staff were in attendance. Attendees learned about various mental health and substance use disorders, community resources that are available and gained skills on how to intervene in mental health related crisis situations.

This is a part of the larger violence and suicide prevention efforts that Susie and her team are implementing across Garland County to lower mortality rates. Since beginning the program last year, they have seen a substantial decline in suicide rates to-date.
