Hot Springs Launches New Pelvic Health Program

Pelvic health can be something not many people like to discuss, but Darci Saunders, PT DPT, is making sure people know treatment options are available. Saunders_Darci

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs just launched a new Pelvic Health Therapy Clinic which offers specialty rehabilitation services focused on pelvic floor disorders and muscle dysfunction. Conditions treated include urinary and fecal incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, prenatal and postpartum pain, pelvic organ prolapse and many other conditions.

“Most of the conditions we see are often under-treated due to embarrassment and a general lack of awareness concerning treatments available,” said Saunders. “At CHI St. Vincent, we are committed to helping improve our patients’ quality of life. No one should suffer silently.”

Some of the specialized services include biofeedback and surface electromyography, bladder re-training exercises, electrical stimulation and customized therapeutic exercise programs.

“We meet with each patient individually to discuss his or her medical condition and then we lay out a treatment plan, which generally involves physical therapy visits to the clinic as well as exercises to do at home,” said Saunders. “There is no other clinic in the Hot Springs area offering this type of program. People would have to drive to Texarkana or Little Rock to receive treatment that we now offer right here at home.”
