Jimmy Duncan Recognized as Service Hero at Hot Springs

Congratulations to Jimmy Duncan, Radiology Technologist, for being recognized as a Service Hero at Hot Springs. He put our values into action by demonstrating Reverence after taking time to pray with a patient. Read a snip from his nomination below:

Last night after work, I had to take my mother-in-law to the emergency room because she wasn’t breathing well. While the entire staff was wonderful and had her quickly admitted in about 45 minutes, Jimmy is the one who stood out to me. He came in her room along with a student to do my her x-rays. He was so kind and stood back to let the student learn and set up the x-ray. Jimmy asked questions to him about what and why he was doing what he was doing. He was so patient and encouraging the entire time.

What stood out to me most wasn’t what Jimmy did that fell within his job description, it was what he did after the x-rays were done. We were standing in the hallway waiting on them to get done and when the student walked out I headed back into the room. As I walked in, Jimmy was standing next to my mother-in-law, holding her hands and praying for her. I know this is something she didn’t ask him to do…although a believer she would never publicly step out on her faith. Jimmy all on his own took the time out of what I know is an already busy and hectic schedule to hold her hands and pray for her healing. He then told her that he would add her to his list of people he prays for, and continue to pray for her.

What a wonderful example this man is!!! If only more of us would stop and take time out of ours days to pray with these patients or even just to listen. My 9-year-old son was with us and was able to witness this as well. I know there are others within the organization that probably pray with patients as well but I personally have never seen it. Out of all the wonderful care she received last night his actions are what made the most impact on our visit.
